Dr. Simon Chan – biography:

Cambridge educated Asian theologian Rev. Dr. Simon Chan PhD is presiding as keynote speaker at the 2008 International Convocation of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church (ICCEC) this summer. Dr. Chan is a published author and professor engrossed in exploring the ontology and ecclesiology of the Christian church. He has been featured in several interviews published in Christianity Today Magazine.

Dr. Chan is Earnest Lau Professor of Systematic Theology at Trinity Theological College in Singapore. Systematic theology can be more easily explained as the division of theology into systems that explain its various areas, organizing the various teachings of the Bible into categorical systems. Dr. Chan is a world renowned theologian with an interest in convergence worship, the liturgy and church history. He holds a Ph.D. from Cambridge University, and is the author of several books including his most recent Liturgical Theology: The Church as Worshiping Community (InterVarsity, 2006). He is also the author of Man and Sin, Pentecostal Theology and the Christian Spiritual Tradition, Spiritual Theology: A Systematic Study of the Christian Life. Moreover he is the associate editor of the Global Dictionary of Theology and the Dictionary of Mission Theology. As this year’s keynote speaker Dr. Chan hosted the morning plenary sessions on Thursday, July 30th and Friday, July 31st.
